Maritime Radio Operator Certificate of Competence, VHF/SRC (Short Range Certificate)
Course Overview:GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress and Safety System) became fully operational
in 1999. This latest development in marine communications adds a new feature to the long established
VHF radio with the introduction of Digital Selective Calling (DSC).
This one day course is designed for people wishing to obtain the Maritime Radio Operator Certificate of
Competence - Short Range Certificate in order to legally operate the VHF equipment on their boat.
An RYA SRC Handbook will be sent for you to read and prepare in advance of the course.

Course fee: £75 plus administration fee £25 (payable to the RYA on the day for the
radio licence - need to bring passport photo for licence)

Certificate should contact the Centre to arrange times and details.

Combined RYA First Aid, Sea Survival, VHF/SRC Radio Operators Licence
Combined Course
Course Overview: Save money by booking this three day package of courses which includes
the RYA First Aid, RYA Sea Survival Certificates and Maritime Radio Operator Licence (Short Range
Certificate).
The package provides the necessary pre-entry course requirements for those undertaking either a Coastal
Skipper, Yachtmaster Offshore or Advanced Powerboat examination which may then be commercially endorsed.
