1: 8+ years, RYA Powerboat Level 2: 12+ years, RYA Safety Boat & RYA
Intermediate: 16 + years, Advanced: 17+ years.
A basic introduction to the theory and practice of safe seamanship in a
small powered craft. The course will provide an introduction to boat
handling skills with plenty of time afloat in addition to essential
theory ashore. NB A minimum of 2 people is required for the course to go
ahead.

This course aims to teach boat handling, seamanship, pilotage and
navigation up to the standards required to drive a planing powerboat
safely by day and night in tidal coastal waters. You should be competent
to the standard of RYA Intermediate Powerboat (coastal) with knowledge
of navigation and chartwork to the level of Dayskipper Shorebased.
Entry Level:
Intermediate Powerboat level skills & VHF/First Aid Certificates (age 17+)

This course bridges the gap between Powerboat Level 2 and Advanced
Powerboat Driver courses. More time is given to pilotage, navigation
(including GPS), fuel and engine checks as well as the effect of waves
and rougher conditions, power trims and berthing in different
conditions.

A more intensive and demanding course. This two day course offers a
thorough introduction to small powerboat handling. Level 2 is also the
basic level required for the International Certificate of Competence
(ICC) for under 10m (for UK citizens and bona fide UK residents only).
The minimum age is 12 years and until aged 16 powerboat drivers must be
supervised by a competent adult.
