The Centre has a superb fleet of 14 powerboats including, Avon Seariders, Jeanneau Commandos, 5.3M Humber, 6.5m twin-engine Ribtec, 2 x 7.85m Ribeyes and a 7m diesel launch for displacement craft work.

 

Minimum age limits apply to the following courses:- RYA Powerboat Level 1: 8+ years, RYA Powerboat Level 2: 12+ years, RYA Safety Boat & RYA Intermediate: 16 + years, Advanced: 17+ years.

 

Advanced Powerboat Examination

From January 2005 all advanced powerboat examinations are administered by the RYA. Exam fees are £123 which is payable to the RYA at the start of the examination. The candidates must provide a seaworthy boat and the equipment complying with the requirements as set by the RYA. Craft suitable for the examination can be hired from SWAC, please contact the Centre for further information. 

Powerboat One-to-One Tuition

In response to our customers’ demands SWAC has developed a one-to-one coaching service.
You receive individual coaching that is tailored to your needs. Please call to discuss your particular requirements. 

Night Hours Builder

Increase your night hours, boat handling and navigation skills.  Using the Centre's advanced powerboats, you will navigate the craft in and out of local harbours.  Topics covered meterorology, International Regulations for Prevention of Collision at Sea (IRPCS), passage planning and electronic navigation.  Contact Centre for details. 

Powerboat - direct examinations (One to one)

The Powerboat Level 2 Certificate, Advanced Powerboat Certificate and RYA International Certificate of Competence (for UK nationals only) can be awarded upon successful completion of a direct examination. These practical and oral examinations are an alternative option to the full course programme and are intended for experienced powerboat users. Please contact the Centre for details.
