Aims and Objectives

The aims of the Hampshire Youth Sailing Development Strategy are to provide introductory sailing and windsurfing opportunities for young people and to identify talented young sailors and windsurfers in the Hampshire region and provide the information and opportunities necessary for the development of their talent and performance. To help us achieve these aims we will develop working partnerships with the Royal Yachting Association, Sailing Clubs, Schools, Sailing Associations and Class Organisations.

The strategy sets out specific objectives and targets for the development of initial sailing opportunities, transitional sailing opportunities and race training opportunities for young people in the county of Hampshire. These opportunities will provide pathways from introductory sailing experiences gained either at school or at club level enabling young people to develop confidence and skills providing pathways towards both club sailing and the RYA World-Class Start and World Class Potential programmes.

In addition to providing and supporting sailing opportunities, the strategy seeks to improve communication links with all interested parties and raise awareness of the wider opportunities for participation which exist within the region.
